Today, the children in foundation phase celebrated a Welsh Culture Day with visiting harpist Bethan Nia. A variety of Welsh songs were sung whilst Bethan played the harp. Afterwards the children had a go themselves on the small harps. They all had a wonderful time.

We recently went on a trip to Barry Island with our parents and teachers. The weather wasn't looking so good when we left school but it got better at the beach. We had a fabulous time playing in the sand.

Danylan Fields

Reception took a stroll to Danylan Fields today to enjoy the sunshine 🌞. We made daisy chains, played ball and had fun in the park!

Library Visit

Today the reception children took a little trip to the library. We walked down to the town. We listened to some lovely stories and had a great time. Thank you Pontypridd Library!

Exploring Shadows!

Today Reception have been exploring shadows. We drew around our shadows this morning and this afternoon and we discovered they had moved!!

Eggtastic Fun!

Nursery and reception children had an eggtastic time on their Easter Egg Hunt!

Techniquest Visit

Reception visited Techniquest today and were very excited to look for Delyth the Dragon and her fairytale friends. We have had great fun exploring light and shadows. Everyone has had a fantastic day!

Our First Few Weeks in Class

We’ve had a busy few weeks settling back into school. We’ve had lots of new friends join us in our class and we have been showing them how we line up, how we wash our hands, how to tidy up and much much more!

We have been learning about Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Next we are learning about The Three Little Pigs.

Science Week

On Wednesday we had a gardening day!

We have had great fun in the garden. We’ve planted carrot and tomato seeds and potatoes. We planted daffodils and lots of other colourful flowers.

We tidied up our yard – we gave it a good sweep and Mr Wells and Miss Smyth picked up some bits of litter.

We have had some new windmills, scarecrows and suncatchers so we had to decide where they were all going to go.

We also filled up our bird feeder and will be making bird cakes in class to put on our bird table.

 

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks in Nursery.

PC Rob came to see us to talk about his job as a Policeman. He let us try on lots of different hats and some of us even tried on his handcuffs!

We all enjoyed listening to him and he was very impressed with the questions we asked him.

Last Friday we had a party to celebrate Chinese New Year. We made red envelopes to put coins inside and also made red and gold party hats.

Our favourite part of the day was when we all tried lots of Chinese food! It was delicious!

Christmas in Nursery!

We’ve had a very busy few weeks in the run up to Christmas.

• We’ve made our Christmas cards, calendars, reindeer cakes and threaded beads to make a candy cane for our Christmas tree at home.
• We had our Christmas trip to Planet Ice in Cardiff to see Alice in Wonderland.
• We had our Christmas party with Link Up – which was lots of fun!
• We had an open morning. Our Mums and Dads came to see us perform in our concert. They stayed for a cup of coffee and a mince pie and joined in with lots of activities.

We are all looking forward to a rest over Christmas ready for a busy term in Spring!

The Jolly Postman

The Jolly Postman

We have been learning about the Jolly Postman.

On the Writing Table we’ve been writing letters, sticking on stamps and posting them in our class post box.

We have been doing lots of things to help us learn 2D shapes. We have cut out shapes to make Shape Monsters. We have been sorting shapes. On the IPad we have got a Shape Lotto game which we all love. 

 

The Gingerbread Man

This week we have been looking at the story of The Gingerbread Man. We have been reading the story and have learned a song. We made our own playdough and added ginger to it. We used special cutters to make different size Gingerbread Men. We painted some Gingerbread Men too this week. When they are dry we will be sticking on some eyes, mouths and buttons. We have had lots of new apps on our Ipad this week. Our favourite is a sorting game. We are learning to sort colours and shapes.
